Your reaction to adversity, not adversity itself i Your reaction to adversity, not adversity itself is what determines how your life story will progress.
August 2022 my life story was dealt a hand laden with adversity. Beginning with a belittling interrogation, rather than the exciting entrance interview I was expecting from U.C.C.
“You won’t be able for this course!”
“You aren’t academically capable.”
“You don’t have the necessary research experience.”
“You don’t have the educational background to pass this course.”
All direct quotes to me, as I was knocked back over and over, but I countered each criticism with evidence of my strengths, fearing my return to education would falter before it even began.
Miraculously, I was still accepted into the course, where even though I was the youngest and least academically experienced student, I immediately became the guiding mentor and Agony Uncle of my classmates. Yet still the adversity dragged on.
Belittling, bullying, condescending criticism, intimidation, harassment and scornful patronising continued to be directed my way on a weekly basis.
I suffered. I struggled. I wanted it all to end. I worked harder. Studied longer. Researched deeper. But the vilification persisted. “I don’t have time for your stupid f***ing questions”. Another direct quote from my principal tormentor of the year.
“You won’t get a first class honours in this course, so get that out of your head.”
But I couldn’t get it out of my head! I wanted to learn. I wanted to grow. I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to excel. I got my First Class Honours!!
Life is tough! You will face adversity. How will you react? That is entirely up to you. Don’t let the bullies, or naysayers hold you back. Go after what you want in life, and don’t stop until you get it.
Live like you may die tomorrow.
Learn like you will live forever!
What YOU do, only has to make sense to YOU. If it What YOU do, only has to make sense to YOU.
If it makes you happy, then do it! Do it with passion, pride and consistency.
If you think that it is what you need, but others don’t agree, do it anyway, they are not you.
Make your own mistakes.
Forge your own path.
Create your happiness.
Have your own back!!

No excessive cardio. (Just tipping away with slow paced 5ks).

It’s called body “building” for a reason. Th It’s called body “building” for a reason. The goal is adding top quality LEAN muscle.

Anyone can lose weight. Anyone can gain weight.
•
Weight is irrelevant. Physique, performance, functionality, fitness, health, happiness are all things we want to work on and improve and @shaunbarryphotography ticked ALL of those boxes.

Both Shaun and I have witnessed people being pushed through punishing cuts, with their calories dropping to dangerously low levels and simply showing up for a photoshoot or competition, depleted, gaunt, skinny… and worse… unhappy and unhealthy!

Shaun and I worked tirelessly together to get the best plan possible for him on this “cut” with him increasing strength, adding muscle and getting lean on 3,000+ calories per day!

Do it right, and it gets easier every day!
Who needs a sign? 😇 It’s just 5 months to C Who needs a sign? 😇 
It’s just 5 months to Christmas! (I know, sorry for using the “C” word so early) Yet some people are still hesitating and waiting for the perfect time! The ONLY perfect time is now. Take action. Take control.
Take the halo showing up above my head as a sign that in 5 short months we will all have angels 😇 topping our Christmas trees 🎄 but will we have the results we set out to achieve last Christmas or early New Years??

Most of us know we need to eat a little less, and Most of us know we need to eat a little less, and move a little more in order to burn body fat. But what else comes into play, and how do we know we are really creating that ‘calorie deficit’?? The issues above in the image, are of the most repeated and common mistakes I see, yet also some of the easiest things to fix or avoid!
1)Move more, eat less.
2)Go to bed earlier.
3)Drink 500ml before every meal.
4)Take a Rest Day (or 3) every week.
5)Know what’s really on your plate.
6)You don’t need to be extreme... you need to be consistent!
